Stage the Play

Put on a full-scale production of the play. Since the cast is small, cast different people for the brothers in each act, or even each scene. Allow students who are not inclined to be in the spotlight to direct, set design, costume design, produce, or advertise.

Do a Mini Research Project on Western Movies.

Pick three Western movies, watch them, then compare and contrast them. Be prepared to present a summary for the class. Did you find the Westerns exciting and believable? Perhaps these are what Austin thought Lee's daily life was like.

Write Your own Short Western Screenplay.

The screenplay can be as long as you want it to be, but it should be more than five pages in length. It should be a "modern" Western like Lee was trying to write, not a period piece like Austin was writing.
