Character Sketch

Choose one character from the story and create a detailed character sketch. Then, draw a picture of what you think this character would look like.

Family Tree

Create a family tree for Oskar's family.

Motivations

This activity will replicate activity centers. Write the names of the various characters and one event on separate poster boards or pieces of paper (Oskar can be written on more than one poster with different events listed separately). Divide the class into groups with each group at a poster board. The students will write five or six words that sum up that character's motivation of an event. Each group will have 5 minutes at each poster and will be asked to move to the next board after that time. The challenge is for the groups to come with unique descriptions for the motivations.
