Lesson 1 (from Prologue-Chapter 6)

Objective

The objective of this lesson is to examine the promise Cibi, Magda, and Livi make to their father, and why the promise is important to him and to them. Menachem is having surgery the next day. It is possible he will not survive. He wants his daughters to promise to take care of one another in case he is not there to protect them.

Lesson

Class Discussion: In the Prologue, what surgery is Menachem having the next day? Is it likely that he will not survive the surgery? How does he want to guide his girls into the future? If he does not survive, how will his daughters need to rely upon one another? What does he ask the girls to do? How does he explain what a promise is and what it means? How does he want the girls to take care of one another...
