Objective

The objective of this Daily Lesson is to explore the setting of The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels. The novel is set in several locations, but all are in England, in the late 1800's. The characters are for the most part middle- and upper-class Victorians, very concerned with class and propriety. This lesson offers students some background information on this time and place in order to increase their comprehension of the reading.

Lesson

Small Group Presentation Activity: Divide the class into groups of three. Ask the group members to work together to create a brief presentation using both text and images to convey key information about Queen Victoria and her empire, the living conditions and material culture of Victorian England, and the intellectual climate of Victorian England.
