When Gretel went to Wyoming she was hoping to numb herself to life. Instead Wyoming and it's people changed her. The objective of this lesson is to discuss Gretel's feelings about what she thought she wanted from her time in Wyoming and how she discovered that wasn't what she really wanted.

1) Class Discussion: What was Gretel hoping to gain when she went to Wyoming? What was she hoping to learn? What did she actually gain? What did she actually learn? What feelings did Gretel want to experience when she went to Wyoming? Why? What feelings did Gretel actually experience?

2) Group Discussion: divide the class into groups of two or three. How did Gretel feel about Wyoming when she got there? Was Gretel happy to be in Wyoming? Why or why not? How did the people of Wyoming affect Gretel?
