Film

Give students the opportunity to view the 2003 film, "Sylvia." On which biography is the film based? How apparent is the bias in the film? Students will write a 2-3 page paper discussing their conclusions.

Draw a Person from the Narrative

Have students draw their interpretation of a person from the text. Artistic ability is not important, but their drawings must reflect the type of costume worn by the person, whether the person is fat or thin, bald, prim, or sloven. What colors do the persons wear?
