Objective

1) Lead the class in a discussion about themes in literature. What do the students think a theme is? After having read the book, can they identify the theme of the fear of death? Why is the theme of the fear of death such an important and common one in literature? Is it because everyone can relate to it in some way? Discuss.

Continue the discussion on themes on another day. Can the students identify any other themes in the book? Ask them to identify and explain their answers.
