Objective

Ernesto "Che" Guevara was a known communist who aided Fidel Castro in taking over Cuba via guerilla warfare. He is also the author and narrator of "The Motorcycle Diaries". This lesson will focus on researching and learning about the life and legacy of Che Guevara.

Lesson

1. Class activity: As a class, make a list of what you already know or have heard about Che Guevara. Have you seen "The Motorcycle Diaries" movie? Did you know he was a communist? Have you heard or read about him in a positive or negative way? Have you read any of his other books or writings? Was he married? Did he have any children? How did he die?

2. Independent work: Go to the library or computer lab and do research on the life of Che Guevara, confirming or denying all "facts" discussed previously in class. Be sure to make notes...
