The objective of this lesson will be to explore some of the possible foreshadowing that happens in this scene, and to discuss some of the possible outcomes.

1) Prediction: Read aloud with the class the section that describes the store keeper found to be in secret liaison with the invading army. Have the students each write a short prediction about what this strange realization could be foreshadowing. How will this be important to the plot? Do you think it gives away too much? Why or why not? What evidence is there in the scene to support your belief? Allow some volunteers to read their ideas.
