Objective

Chapter 1 -

The objective of Daily Lesson #1 is for students to be able to understand and apply the concepts of flashbacks.

Lesson

1. Have the students Think*Pair*Share the meaning of a flashback. Think*Pair*Share is an activity in which the students think on their own about the proposed question, then they pair with another classmate and discuss their answers to arrive at a consensus, finally each pair of students share their answer with the class.

2. Encourage the students to write a paragraph in the form of a flashback about a traumatic/exciting event from their elementary school years.

3. Brainstorm a list of terms that could be used when writing a flashback to help the reader to identify it is indeed a flashback.

Homework: Have the students find an example of a flashback on a television show and share it with the class.
