Chapters 1-6
• The following version of this book was used to create this Lesson Plan: Kwon, R.O. The Incendiaries. Riverhead Books, 2018.
• Chapter 1 is narrated by (and titled for) "Will," who describes how a group watches buildings fall on a campus from an e11-story building on a campus in a town called Noxhurst. He addresses a girl named a Phoebe.
• Chapter 2, titled “John Leal,” (narrated in the third person) explains that the title character left Noxhurst half way through his last term at college.
• When employed helping Korean refugees in China, John Leal was kidnapped and taken to a prison camp in Pyongyang, North Korea.
• Leal thinks about the blind allegiance that the prisoners show to their despot.
• Chapter 3, titled “Phoebe,” is narrated by a girl named Haejin (who is in fact Phoebe, discussing herself in the third person. She will be called "Haejin" when she relates...
