Write an essay for ONE of the following topics:

Essay Topic 1

As the book ends, Yun recounted his life and his many struggles as well as his triumphs. Looking back, do you think he had any regrets? Was there anything he would have changed or done differently? Provide any quote(s) from Yun to support your argument.

Essay Topic 2

What was China's "One-Child Law"? Why do they have this law? Discuss the circumstances surrounding the reason for the law, and the inevitable horrific consequences for the Chinese people. How did this law effect Yun and Deling? Cite examples.

Essay Topic 3

Yun met varying degrees of commitment from Christians as he traveled to different parts of China. Some were willing to risk all, even their lives to help Yun, others were fearful and would not help at all. Why do you think this was so? What could make the responses vary so widely? Did Yun judge those Christians, or harbor bitterness towards them?
