• In the spring of 1955, Michael Corleone, the new Don of the Corleone family, is intent on eliminating known traitors to their crime syndicate. He calls Nick to set up a meeting, which is unusual because the Don typically only gives orders through intermediaries, such as Nick's boss, Tessio.
• Through the choice of restaurant and location, Nick realizes that Tessio has betrayed the new Don. After Nick has been waiting at the Two Toms for two hours, Clemenza arrives with three bodyguards. When Clemenza tells him that Tessio is not dead, Nick realizes that his loyalty test is to kill Tessio himself.
• Leaving the Two Toms, Clemenza confirms that Tessio had plotted with the Barzinis to kill the Don. They pull into a closed down service station, where Tessio is being guarded by Neri. Neri hands Nick a gun and then forces Tessio to look...
