The objective of this lesson is to research, discuss, and explore this remarkable book's background insofar as genre, generation, author history, and potential for great psychological scope and impact.

1. Opening Discussion: What do you know about this book? It's author? Author's intention? How and why do you think this book made such an impact in China? (Students will probably lack knowledge in these areas of questioning) Why do you think it could be worthwhile to learn more about what we now know to be a book that China holds as one of its best?
