Mrs. Hay sends the dollhouse to the Burnell family after staying at their house for awhile. She sent it because they have three daughters.

2. What does Aunt Beryl feel in regards to the way the dollhouse smells?

The dollhouse smells of paint, which Aunt Beryl thinks is "quite enough to make any one seriously ill" (570).

3. What colors make up the exterior of the dollhouse and how are they described?

The dollhouse is red, white, green, yellow and brown. The green is said to be "spinach green" (570) and the brown door looks like a "little slab of toffee" (571).

4. How is the way the dollhouse door discussed and what is it compared to?
