1) Library Research: Have the students research the author, Donna Jo Napoli. Explore the other works she has written, as well as her background. Take a look at interviews and the Napoli's website to gain information on her writing and where "Spinners" fits in with her other novels.

2) Presentation: Have students get into pairs and prepare a presentation, using their research on Napoli and her canon. Have each group read an excerpt from different novels written by Napoli during their presentation.
