Objective

Objective: When the doctors and the nurses at No Mercy Hospital see the tragic death of Robert Smith, it causes their perceptions to change. They take on Ruth Foster and help her deliver the first 'colored' baby at their facility. Today's objective is to discuss the idea of changing your mind because of an experience.

1. Have each student create a simple letter that might have gone out to the entire staff of the hospital, alerting them to this new change in policy.

2. In smaller groups, have students discuss whether or not they think the hospital did the right thing. Have each student support his answers.
