Newspaper

Have students compose a family newsletter alerting everyone to what family members are up to. It is up to the students to decide what the letter should address and from whose perspective the letter should be written.

Spiritual Experiences

Name all of the spiritual references you can in this novel. Draw a picture of one of the most vivid experiences and share with the rest of the class.

Medicine

Break students up into groups of three. Ask one to play La Loca, one to play a spiritual healer, and the third to play a medical doctor. Have "La Loca" describe her symptoms (such as her visions and episodes), then have each of the other two students "diagnose" her based on that person's medicinal perspective.
