Chapter 1 - A Note on Time

· In Chapter 1, “in which we are driven out of Omaha by alpacas,” when people wonder why Simon and his family left Omaha for a place with no internet, no cell phones, no TV, and no radio, he always says they were driven out by alpacas.

· Simon’s father is a Catholic deacon and was the liturgical director at a church in the Omaha suburbs, where he planned Masses and events.

· One event he planned was the Feast of Saint Francis, where they bless animals.

· It is always chaotic, but the year they left, Simon’s father forgot to say what animals could and could not be part of the ceremony.
