Prologue

The spotter enters the gym. He has short conversations with Del before killing him revealing little about who he is. His name is never mentioned. The objective is to trace characteristics of the spotter to determine what the reader knows about him.

Lesson

1) Class Discussion: When does the spotter arrive at the gym? What is he there for? In what manner does he answer Del's questions? Why does he add extra weight to the bar? How does he kill Del? Why does he crouch down and pull down on the bar? What is he worried about after the murder? What does he want with Del's girlfriend?

2) Partners: Writing Log: Find the quotes that show the spotter's short answers to Del. Find the quotes that show a connection to Del.
