Objective

Thad Roberts is the main character in the story. Thad starts out as a 19 year old boy who falls in love with a woman outside his religion. Thad has great aspirations and dreams. Discuss Thad and his personal and professional lives.

Lesson

1. Create a character description of Thad Roberts. Be sure to include his vital statistics, place of residence, personal and professional relationships, his personality traits, and series on ongoing dilemmas.

2. Discuss Thad's relationships to the people in his life, namely Sonya, his parents and boss. Does Thad's youth directly reflect on his future? Do you think that Thad will accomplish his goals?

3. Family relationships are extremely important in the story. Compare and contrast Thad's relationships with your own. What are the main differences? Are there any similarities? Explain. Create a Venn diagram to show the results.
