Marcellus is a giant Pacific octopus. He lives in an aquarium, and he was captured from the middle bottom of the sea before he was imprisoned. The daughter of the guy who runs the aquarium, Terry, named the octopus Marcellus McSquiddles. He has a life span of four years (1,460 days). He was brought to the aquarium as a juvenile. At the most, he has 160 days to live. Then he will die and his captivity will end.

2. Who is Tova Sullivan?

Tova Sullivan is a 70-year-old widow, who cleans the aquarium. Her husband died of cancer, and her only child, a son named Erik, disappeared when he was 18. She does not need the money she earns from cleaning the aquarium, but it gives her something to do.

3. Who are the Knit-Wits?

The Knit-Wits are four women who meet for weekly luncheons. There used to be seven women who met together. The Knit-Wits began 25 years for a handful of Sowell Bay women to swap yarn. Eventually, it became a refuge for empty nesters.
