After reading this book, what were some ideas of important staples the Crow people had in every day life? How does Pretty-shield incorporate these staples into her stories? How does she describe the need for these particular items? How do you think the Crow life would be different without one, some, or all of these staples?
Essay Topic 2
In Chapter 18, how does Pretty-shield describe war? Some tribes seemed to be more peaceful while other tribes seemed to search for battles. Do you think most of the Crow tribe had the same thoughts on war? What evidence is there of other tribes wanting or searching for war instead of trying to avoid it? How do you think the men or warrior's view of war is different from Pretty-shield's or a woman's view?
Essay Topic 3
Pretty-shield entrusted Linderman to make an account of her life and write about the Crow culture. Why do you think Pretty-shield trusted Linderman enough to do this?
