Lesson 1 (from Chapter 1)

Objective

Chapter 1 begins with the chase of a French frigate by the Charwell, a British navy vessel. Later in the chapter, mention is made that a fast cutter carries the good news that the War between France and England is over. The objective of this lesson is to acquaint the student with the British Navy, the French Navy, and the types of ships mentioned in the opening chapter of Post Captain.
