Write an essay for ONE of the following topics:

Essay Topic 1

Write an essay of at least two typed, double spaced pages entitled, Salman Rushdie's Love Affair with Words. Divide your essay into three parts as follows:

(1) Rushdie's use of alliteration and onomatopoeia. (2) Rushdie's use of strings of hyphenated words to form nouns or adjectives. (3) Rushdie's coining of words for special effect. Be sure to quote passages from the novel to support your points.

Essay Topic 2

Write an essay of at least two typed, double spaced pages on Moral Lessons in The Moor's Last Sigh. Begin your essay by defining moral lessons in obvious works such as Aesop's Fables. Select three characters from the novel to show how eventually each one pays for bad behavior. Include Sammy Hazaré who pays for his hatred by killing himself as a suicide bomber.
