· In Chapter 1, Beatrice is riding in a carriage with her maid Clara along Booksellers’ Row.
· She has been in Bendleton for three days.
· She sends a seeking spell toward the stores and receives a response at Harriman’s.
· She gets out of the carriage, and sends Clara on ahead for her fittings.
· Beatrice tells the clerk she is browsing.
· Her senses pull her toward the stack where the grimoire is shelved.
· It will have an author name like John Estlin, Church, J.C. Everworth, or E. James Curtfield.
· For women, magic is only practiced by widows or crones, not by women in their child-bearing years.
· The doors of the chapterhouse are banned for her, but men can enter and be educated among fellow magicians.
· Beatrice has an aura of sorcery shining from her head, which indicates her ability to produce more magicians for the next generation...
