Essay Topics

Write an essay for ONE of the following topics:

Essay Topic 1

Write a comparison of the characters of Matty and Leader. Be sure to consider the roles of each in the lives of the people of Village.

Essay Topic 2

Describe how the people of Village come to the decision to close Village to outsiders. Is the process fair? Why or why not? Compare that to the way a town makes decisions regarding its government.

Essay Topic 3

Matty tells about several people of Village who have deformities. How are people with deformities and disabilities treated in Village? Compare that to how they are treated in other villages. Which is nearer the truth of how those people would be treated today in your town?
