Through the first eight years of Antoinette's marriage, the entire country of France eagerly awaited the birth of the heir to the throne. Finally, the much awaited dauphin was finally born. First, describe Antoinette's journey as a queen leading up to the birth of her first son, the dauphin. Then, describe the dauphin as a child. What illness plagued him through his childhood? Based on his representation in the book, do you think the dauphin would have made a good king, had he lived long enough to take the throne? Why or why not? Be sure to include examples from the text to strengthen your arguments.

During the French revolution, Marie Antoinette and her family were held in exile in the towers. First, describe what life was like for the royal family in exile.
