Lesson 1 (from Author's Note)

Objective

This lesson will introduce the class to the hunter and author Jim Corbett.

Lesson

1. Preparatory activity and homework: Divide the class into four groups. Assign one group to research the early life of Jim Corbett, one group to research his military career, one to research how he was seen by the other people of the area, one to research his hunting of man-eaters, one to research his efforts of conservationism, and one to research his legacy and what exists today because of him such as books, museums, parks, and "Corbett's tiger." This can either be done during class time in the library or as individual research at home.

2. Group activity: Each group works together to create a presentation about their subject on Jim Corbett. Each presentation needs visual aides. Make sure every person in the group has a role in the presentation.
