Activities:

• Have the students hold a class debate on the idea that this section demonstrates the idea that the theme of this book seems to be set to discuss the journey and transformation of the main character, Nicholas.

• Have the students discuss how they would feel if they Alison and were dismissed by someone they were trying to get closer to including in by changing their work. Create a list of what this might impact.

• Have the students work in pairs to create a position statement on why Nicholas may want to change his entire life and leave all of his previous life events behind.

Homework:

Research and report on Greece.

Challenge:

Describe what intrigues Nicholas the most in this chapter and why you believe he finds it intriguing.
