Objective

Objective: Part 1: Chapter 1 The students will be able to define and provide examples of the genre of writing of a biography.

1) Possible Activities:

* Provide the definition of a biography. Ask the students to brainstorm why an author would choose to use this type of writing genre.
* Hold a class discussion as to the definition of biography versus autobiography and what might be the pros and cons of reading each genre.
* Hold a debate as to the effectiveness of a biography at pointing out the characteristics of person. Divide the class in half and have them research and support their side of the debate, whether or not that is their own personal opinion.

Homework:
Have the students research and find at least one other novel which could be considered a biography besides this novel.

Challenge:
Ask the students to choose a specific person about which they might write...
