This book is written in a letter format. The objective of this lesson will be to analyze this style of narrative and discuss some of the things that this style of narrative adds to the story line and tone.

Lesson

1) Introduction of Lesson Material: Write on the board in large letters the word 'Letter Writing'. Have the students write a personal response to seeing and thinking about these words. What does this make you think about? How do you feel when seeing these words? After a few minutes, ask some students to read their responses. Discuss this with the class. How were these responses similar? How were they different? Were they mostly positive or negative in nature? Why do you think that is? How do you think this relates to the assigned reading?
