Essay Topics

Write an essay for ONE of the following topics:

Essay Topic 1

The author seems to have an understanding for the problems women of the 19th century faced. Describe some the problems as discussed by Julian and how they have changed in the 20th century.

While the author seems to understand women's roles his depiction of women in 2000 is still sexist. Provide examples and discuss how these examples demonstrate as sexist view.

Essay Topic 2

Through out the book Dr. Leete presents a superior attitude when comparing 1887 to 2000. Provide examples of this superior attitude. How does Julian feel about it? Does Dr. Leete feel better than Julian himself or does his superiority concern society in general?

Essay Topic 3

Choose one factor of society as it is discussed in 2000. Write an argument for why the ways of that factors are not practical or would not work in reality and an argument for why or how it would work.
