Create Character Models

Split the class up into pairs. Just as Fleur created the "English Rose," based on Dottie and Beryl Tims, have each student create a character model based on his/her partner.

Be kind! Do this once without interviewing each other - just base the model and what you think you know about the other person. Then revise the character model after interviewing your partner and learning more about who s/he is.

Develop Visuals

Split the class into groups of 3-4, and give each group two characters from the novel. Based on the author's descriptions, have them create visual models of their characters. This can be done as creatively as they like - from developing a digital image on the computer to dressing up a Barbie doll. They can sculpt, draw or come in costume.
