Film

There are several film adaptations released of The Lady with the Pet Dog. The latest of these is a German film titled, "Die Dame mit dem Hündchen." Give students time in class to watch excerpts of the film and write about the differences in the adaptation.

Cast the Film

Ask students to imagine the novella were being adapted to an American film in today's age. Who would they cast as Anna? Who as Gurov? Why?

Modernize the Text

Give students time in class to write a paper describing how the novella would change if it were reset in today's time period. How would things be different in 2010 than in 1900?

News Clipping

Ask students to look in their local newspaper for an article that involves some aspect of the novel and bring it to class. They will present it in front of the class and explain why...
