Aging Sketch Project

Draw a sketch of what Jude and/or Sue look like when they first meet, and what they look like when the novel concludes.

Book Jacket Sketch

Imagine that Jude writes an autobiography of his life as he lay dying. Design a book jacket, making sure to include details about Jude's life that are mentioned in "Jude the Obscure."

Chapter Title Project

"Jude the Obscure" is written without chapter titles. Come up with chapter titles for each of the book's chapters, based on what happens within each one.

Character Sketch

Draw a sketch of a key character from "Jude the Obscure." It can be just of their face, or of their whole body. It can be in whichever medium you choose: pencil, paint, charcoal, etc. Be prepared to present your drawing to the class.
