Objective

The search for information is something that weighs heavily on Carlos Castaneda's mind throughout his series of books, but seems to be more significant somehow in this book. Today's objective is to discuss the journey or the quest for information in one's life - and its importance.

Lesson

1. Have each student make a list of the things he thinks Castaneda is hoping to achieve in his work with Don Juan.

2. In smaller groups, have students discuss whether they feel they are on a quest for information in their own lives. Why or why not?

3. As a class, have the students discuss the value of searching for information. What is more important - the journey or the information that is gathered? Why? What personal stories can the students share with other students?
