Chesapeake Bay

This is the body of water surrounding Louise's home. It can be considered the source of the Island's livelihood.

Crisfield

This is the mainland closest to the narrator's home. The hospital is located here and islanders must travel here by ferry.

Rass Island

This is where the protagonist and her family live. A small community inhabits this land mass, which is primarily made up watermen and their families.

The Ferry House

Captain Billy and his brothers run this business, which transports passengers as well as any incoming or outgoing mail.

The School

There is only one of these on Louise's island.

The South Gut

This is a water ditch that crisscrosses through the whole Island. Louise and Call get the idea to clear out the trash and use it as a travel path by boat.
