Students will be able to learn key vocabulary terms associated with the text ,and discuss the significance of the preface, introduction, and Chapter 1. The study of terminology will allow students to better understand the text.

Lesson

1. Concept Chart -- Create a concept chart for the key terms used in the text. A concept chart is a list of vocabulary words that students will need to be familiar with in order to understand the story. To create the chart, draw a line before and after each word. Then create a key for students to score their understanding of each word (0=never heard of word before, 1=heard of word, 2=know word).
