Creator Gods

These characters are occasionally paired but most often are a single source of creative energy, or spirit. These characters can be male or female and help cultures explain how the world came into being.

Gods

These characters are the central characters of the creation stories. Each creation story involves one or two of these characters. These characters were created to explain the origins of mankind and the universe.

Trickster

These characters are usually animals but can also be humans who challenge, confront, and often change usual ways of thinking, believing, and behaving.

Death

This is often a character and is not always something to be afraid of. It is inevitable, but can often be transcended.

Human Beings

These characters were created by a god (or gods); they did not evolve.
