Film

Obtain a copy of the film version of The Grass Harp, released in 1996, and let the class watch excerpts of the film. Have students write a one-page essay paper describing the structural and content differences between the two versions.

Costume Study

Dolly dresses in a very Victorian style of dress, and the other character costumes are described as more contemporary for their time. Give students an opportunity to research the style of dress that was popular during the 1930s/1940s in the rural south.

Automobiles
