Essay Topic 1

When Idgie first opens the Whistle-Stop Café, she hires two very important women, Sipsey and Onzell. First, describe why Idgie felt the need to hire these women for her café. What jobs did these women do? Why couldn't Idgie do these tasks herself? Then, explain how Idgie's relationship with these two women changed as the novel progressed, and why.

During his life, Buddy Jr. deals with an unfortunate handicap. First, explain the source Buddy Jr. injury, and what the immediate effect of that injury was.
