Victor uses this to create his first creature. After the creature comes to life and Victor sees what he has done, he is horrified and vows to never use it again. However, Victor is blackmailed into using it once more when the creature requests he make a companion for him.

Walton's Letters

Walton sends these to his sister as he progresses on his adventure and after he meets Victor. It is in this way that Victor’s story is told.

Elizabeth's Letters

These are sent to Victor. One of them suggests that Elizabeth believes Victor is in love with another woman and releases Victor from his promise to marry.
