The Prologue to "Delta Force" establishes the main storyline and intent of Beckwith in designing the program. This lesson is about the introduction of Charlie Beckwith, the mission that launches Delta Force, and the conditions that the nation is facing at the time.

Lesson

1) Class Discussion: What is the purpose of a prologue in general? How is it designed to prepare the reader for the book's main themes? In what way does a Prologue introduce the book's main characters and situations? What are some of the differences in the standard definition of a Prologue and the one in "Delta Force"?

2) Writing and Analysis: Have the class take 15 minutes and write down 3 things that the Prologue of "Delta Force" accomplishes. Afterward, talk about the answers and which themes the class thinks will be the most important in the book.
