Ask students to look in their local newspaper for an article that involves some aspect of the novel and bring it to class. They will present it in front of the class and explain why it relates to the novel.

Mythology Research Paper

Give students the opportunity to research some of the mythological elements from the book, such as the Sheep Man, and write a brief paper discussing their origins and meanings.

Draw a Character

Have students draw their interpretation of a character from the novel. Artistic ability is not important, but their drawings must reflect the type of costume worn by the character, whether the character is fat or thin, bald, prim or slovenly. What colors does the character wear?
