Write a letter

Have students write a letter from Vernon to Ronald a month after his departure or a letter from Ronald's aunt to Vernon after the same time period.

Make a puzzle

Have students make a crossword puzzle or a word search puzzle using clues and words from the story. There are online programs that will create the puzzle at no charge. As an alternative, create a puzzle and have students solve it.

Recreate the street fair

Have students set up the classroom to resemble the street fair. Consider having other students visit the event as a way of mingling classes.
