Objective

Objective: Prologue The setting, both physical and historical, of Call It Sleep is vital to the story. It is set in a time when there are many immigrants flooding into America but when European immigrants were not necessarily welcomed--particularly those of Jewish descent. The New York setting enables the characters to interact with many different types of people and be exposed to a variety of experiences. The objective of this lesson is to define the term "setting" and to explore the setting of Call It Sleep and its importance to the story.
