Objective

Chapter 1. The circumstances of Nazneen's birth had Banesa say that they could rush the child to a city hospital or they could leave her in the hands of fate. Either way, fate would determine the outcome. Nazneen grew up hearing the story of fate. The objective of this lesson is to examine the role of fate in the lives of people.

Lesson

1, Have each student write an in class paragraph explaining the difference between fate and free will.

2. Some people believe that all that happens in a person's life is the result of fate and Nazneen was basically raised to believe this. Divide the students into groups of six to discuss the role of fate. Does fate mean that people are helpless to control their own destinies or do people have free will? What is the purpose of fate?
