Objective

Objective: "The Blues I'm Playing" is a period piece that takes place around the 1920s, a time when African Americans were still treated as inferior, as well as a time where the Great Depression was imminent. All the different facets of the time period and place that both make up the setting serve as a backdrop for a -- at first glance -- simple story that turns out to have its own depth. This objective will focus on the story's setting.

1) 1). Class Activity: The teacher will introduce the story's setting, which includes the actual physical setting as well as the time period.
