1. From what part of Adam's body was Eve made, and what does her creation from this part symbolize about the role of the woman in male/female relationships?

Eve was made from Adam's rib. Her creation from this part symbolizes that the role of the woman in male/female relationships should be equal to that of the man. If God meant woman to be above man, he would have made Eve from Adam's head. If God meant woman to be below man, he would have made Eve from Adam's feet. Since God made Eve from Adam's rib, i.e. near his heart, he meant for man and woman to be equal partners.

2. What roles did Eve have in Adam's life and how did these roles relate to the roles of women in Jewish society during biblical times?

Eve had several roles in Adam's life including the role of companion, wife, and mother of his children. These roles related to the roles of women in Jewish society during biblical times in that the female role was considered primarily a domestic one concerning home and family.
